Local Economy Incubator
The ASECO Local Economy Incubator exists to provide a learning space to foster collaborative strategies, solutions and community building for the Sharing Economy through a variety of programs and services that honor our essential interdependence by nurturing human-scale economics. It operates under the fundamental belief that supporting emerging small businesses and worker-owned cooperatives revitalizes the local economy, making the community more connected, whole and self-reliant. The Incubator educates and supports businesses that prioritize the well-being of community members and the planet as well as provide a needed good or service for the region. .
Peer Mentoring
The Incubator provides technical assistance to Time Bank members who are developing a small business or co-op by pairing these local entrepreneurs with Time Bank members who agree to be mentors and provide guidance on sustainability, business plans, branding, strategy, budgeting and anything else they may need. Applicants must be Time Bank members, conduct business within the local area and source materials and supplies from within the region as much as possible. To become a mentor, complete the online application.
Workshops & Classes
The Incubator leverages the social capital of our Time Bank by inviting members with expertise in business development to share their skills and knowledge through our series of workshops and classes. Ranging from topics like business strategy and development to fiscal responsibility to branding and marketing, these educational opportunities allow our entrepreneurs to learn from peers who have been there, done that, tried, failed and succeeded. Rather than reinventing the wheel alone, we hope to inspire our community to share what they know and pass valuable information forward. Programming for workshops and classes will begin in mid-2014.
Referrals and Match Making
So many incredible resources exist within our Time Bank network. The Incubator works to match entrepreneurs with resources, classes and learning opportunities already happening within and outside of the Time Bank community. After receiving a completed participant application, the Incubator identifies potential matches and provides introductions, helps make connections, and in some cases, sponsors participation in programs offered for Time Dollars.
Salons & Food for Thought
The Incubator offers community salons on a variety of Sharing Economy topics to provide members with a space to explore, discuss and innovate ways to more fully embrace the Sharing Economy in its many manifestations and possibilities.
