Sat, Nov 1st, 2014
10AM-12:30
Armory Center for the Arts
145 N. Raymond Ave Pasadena, CA 91103

Designed to help entrepreneurs, small business owners, cooperatives and organizations demystify branding and the branding process – from core messaging and on-brand copy to design and visual identity.

What words come to mind when you see the Nike swoosh?
Do you cringe when you read a terrible tagline?
What IS a tagline, anyway?
Social media: your arch nemesis or best friend?

Branding is often a mysterious thing – if you have a business, everyone tells you you need it – but what is, why do you need it and how do you get it? And once you have it, what do you do with it?

Led by ASNTB members, branding and communications specialists, this workshop offers a hands-on opportunity to explore, understand and refine one’s brand in order to tell your compelling story:
...Learn the difference between a vision and mission statement
...Define the personality behind your brand
...Make sure your visual identity reflects the vision, mission and personality of your brand
...Learn what social media platforms are the best for your needs and how to use them efficiently

We’ll give you concrete tools to move your brand forward and teach you how to tell your own story more effectively. Attract the clientele you want so you can focus on the fun stuff – like running a successful, local business
or organization!

ASNTB Branding & Communications Facilitators:
Helen Kim, The Think Farm
Sarah McGowan Dear, Business Therapy
Anne Louise Bannon, Writer, Blogger and Columnist

PRICE:

Mompreneurs - Mothers making dollar and $ense

9/19/2014

Aimed at empowering mothers and mothers-to-be, this workshop is designed to help mompreneurs who are interested in creating their own financial security through work that supports their mothering and provides a viable income source outside of the extractive economy.

More than ever before, American families are relying on the mother’s earnings with as many as 40% depending solely on her income. And yet women still earn .70 for each dollar that a man makes in an identical position. Unsurprisingly, many moms are creating work for themselves that compensates them fairly and that supports their childrearing and caregiving responsibilities.

Led by Arroyo Seco Network of Time Banks (www.asntb.com) mompreneurs who share their personal experiences, triumphs, trials and tribulations, this workshop may also features a volunteer from Public Counsel who offers general legal information related to starting a small or home-based business, and how small business owners should protect themselves and their assets.

Saturday, September 20th from 10AM-12PM
Armory Center for the Arts 145 North Raymond Avenue Pasadena, California 91103

Time bankers at Sept 20th Climate Change Protest

There's a big Stop Climate Change event in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 20th from 1-5 pm. People will be creating a network of protests — like overlapping neighborhood vigils or sidewalk picket lines — extending block after block along Wilshire between Alvarado and Wilton. Together, we'll be demanding that world leaders, meeting at the United Nations in New York, implement policies to Stop Climate Change Now! This is in conjunction with tens of thousands of people who will be demonstrating in New York City. Meet at the Corner of Wilshire and New Hampshire. You can check out this website to see more about how it will work: http://againstclimatechange.org/ Let's show LA that time bankers care about climate change and show up in force! And you can get time dollars from Civic Engagement account for this too! If you want to participate, contact Nancy Berlin, and she'll help coordinate.
